Product Description

The All Terrain Men’s Gold 9 series might be the best all-around snowshoe on earth for both technical as well as recreational ‘shoers up to 195 lbs. Aggressive stainless steel crampons including Crescent Moon’s unique climbing toe claw along with some nasty, biting, sharp claws immediately below the ball of your foot and at the heel make traction terrific – no slipping or sliding allowed, even on hard and icy inclines.

The bindings on the Crescent Moon Gold 9 series are special, fitting every kind of shoe up to size 10 ½ with exceptional comfort and function, you feel support in every direction of movement whether it’s uphill, downhill, traversing terrain, walking, or even running. The bindings are incredibly easy and fast to get into, and out of, but best when they’re on. They hold your foot like no other design and instead of nylon webbing like other brands use, Crescent Moon is the only snowshoe binding that uses hypalon for strapping. That means it won’t come loose, won’t freeze, and won’t come off your foot in the middle of a steep, snowy climb. (If your foot size is bigger than 10 ½, you’re going to need the next step up, the Gold 10 model.)

For durability, performance, comfort and reliability, the All Terrain Gold 9 Snowshoe is a great choice for any snowshoe enthusiast, man or woman. Confidence in your equipment makes you comfortable in every situation. And with gear this good, your boundaries are limitless. Under a Crescent Moon, or maybe that’s with Crescent Moon underfoot, you can find your bliss; put your feet in a better place, and your head is sure to follow.

    :

Best Binding I’ve ever used and i’ve used almost every other brand there is…..Crescent Moon’s binding really is superior in design, and how it feels in nearly all terrain.

    Crescent Moon Gold 9 snowshoes
    Type: Recreational / Backcountry
    Length: 27 in.
    Weight: 4 lbs. 7 oz.
What we like: Comfortable and light on the foot.
What we don’t: Expensive for not being a full backcountry design.
Women’s version: Crescent Moon Gold 13
Crescent Moon operates a little differently than other gear manufacturers, and that’s not a bad thing. First, they specialize in snowshoes—that’s pretty much the only thing the company makes. Second, they place a serious focus on their manufacturing process, hand making all shoes in the U.S.A. at their Boulder-based factory and using materials that are free of PVC, VOCs and other harmful chemicals. And finally, they have a great formula and don’t feel the need to make drastic changes year after year based on current whims. Simply put, we think the Crescent Moon Gold 9 is the best overall snowshoe on the market.

The aluminum frame of the Gold 9 is durable, the three-claw traction system is effective on most flats, rolling hills, and technical terrain, and the bindings are comfortable and easy to put on. Also, we love the teardrop shape: the shoes are 27 inches in length for good float but it’s easy to move on the snow and cover ground. For a cheaper recreational shoe from Crescent Moon, the Silver 9 lacks a coating on the frame, has inferior but still serviceable bindings, and aluminum claws instead of stainless steel. If you snowshoe a lot or plan to use them for years, we think the step up to the Gold Series is worthwhile.
